Which Is The Best Toothbrush For Arizona Residents?

One of the most important tools for maintaining oral hygiene is a toothbrush. However, with so many types of toothbrushes available in the Phoenix Arizona market, it can be overwhelming to choose the best one for you.

Choosing the best toothbrush can depend on a lot of factors. Our team at Harris Dental can help you decide which toothbrush is best for you. In the meantime, let’s take a look at a few different types of toothbrushes and see what they offer…

Manual Toothbrushes

Manual toothbrushes are the most commonly used type of toothbrush in Phoenix Arizona. They are affordable and easy to use. They come in different sizes, shapes, and bristle types. Manual toothbrushes have a handle that you hold and a head with bristles that you use to clean your teeth.

We’re all familiar with this type of toothbrush. The bristles come in different varieties, including soft, medium, and hard.

Soft-bristled toothbrushes are the most recommended by dentists at Harris Dental because they are gentle on the teeth and gums. Hard-bristled toothbrushes, on the other hand, can cause damage to your tooth enamel and gums.

If you have any questions about the bristles on your toothbrush, bring it in to Harris Dental and let’s take a look. We may be able to recommend a better option for your teeth.

Electric Toothbrushes

Electric toothbrushes have become increasingly popular around Arizona in recent years. They typically have a small motor that moves the bristles in a circular or back-and-forth motion to clean your teeth. Some electric toothbrushes come with different modes and settings for different cleaning options.

Electric toothbrushes are a great solution for people who have difficulty using a manual toothbrush or have limited dexterity. They are also more effective at removing plaque and stains compared to manual toothbrushes. However, electric toothbrushes can be more expensive than manual toothbrushes.

Sonic Toothbrushes

Sonic toothbrushes are a type of electric toothbrush that uses high-frequency vibrations to clean the teeth. These vibrations create a sonic wave that helps to dislodge plaque and debris from the teeth and gums. Sonic toothbrushes are more effective at cleaning than manual or electric toothbrushes and can help to whiten the teeth.

Sonic toothbrushes are a good option for people who have heightened sensitivity because they are gentle on the teeth and gums. However, they can be expensive compared to manual or electric toothbrushes.

Which Toothbrush is the Best?

The best toothbrush for you depends on your individual needs and preferences. However, there are some general guidelines that you can follow when choosing a toothbrush:

  • Choose a toothbrush with soft bristles to avoid damaging your teeth and gums.
  • Look for a toothbrush with a small head that can reach all areas of your mouth, including the back teeth.
  • Consider an electric toothbrush if you have difficulty using a manual toothbrush or want a more effective cleaning option.
  • If you opt for an electric toothbrush, choose a model with different modes and settings that suit your sensitivity.

Choosing the right toothbrush is essential for maintaining good oral hygiene. There are different types of toothbrushes available, including manual, electric, and sonic toothbrushes. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages, and the best toothbrush for you depends on your individual needs and preferences.

Whatever type of toothbrush you choose, make sure it has soft bristles and a small head to effectively clean all areas of your mouth. Better yet; make a visit to Harris Dental and let’s talk about how best to keep your teeth clean and healthy.

Transform Your Smile with Dental Implants at Harris Dental

Losing a tooth can significantly impact not only our ability to chew but also our confidence and self-esteem.

Fortunately, dental technology has made remarkable strides in restorative dentistry, offering a revolutionary solution: dental implants.

At Harris Dental, we understand the importance of a complete and radiant smile, and our team of experts is committed to helping you regain your oral health and confidence through dental implants.

Here’s how Harris Dental can transform your smile.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots made of titanium, a biocompatible material that integrates seamlessly with your jawbone. The implant acts as a sturdy foundation for replacement teeth, providing a natural look, feel, and function. Unlike traditional dentures or bridges, dental implants offer a permanent solution that can last a lifetime with proper care.

Why Choose Dental Implants at Harris Dental?

At Harris Dental, we take pride in delivering exceptional dental care and personalized treatment plans. Here’s why our dental implants stand out:

Individualized Treatment: Harris Dental understands that every patient’s needs are unique. We take the time to assess your oral health and design a personalized treatment plan that caters to your specific requirements and aesthetic goals.

Natural-Looking Results: Our dental implants are carefully crafted to blend seamlessly with your existing teeth, creating a natural-looking smile that will leave you feeling confident and beautiful.

The Dental Implant Process

Embarking on your dental implant journey at Harris Dental involves several key steps:

Comprehensive Examination: During your initial consultation, our implant specialist will assess your oral health, jawbone density, and overall suitability for dental implants. This thorough evaluation will help determine the most appropriate treatment plan for you.

Implant Placement: The dental implant is surgically placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia, offering a comfortable experience. Over time, the implant fuses with the bone through a process called osseointegration, providing a stable foundation for the artificial tooth.

Abutment Placement: Once the implant has integrated with the jawbone, a small connector called an abutment is attached to the implant. The abutment serves as the link between the implant and the replacement tooth.

Customized Restoration: The final step involves attaching a custom-made dental crown, bridge, or denture to the abutment. This restoration is designed to match the color, size, and shape of your natural teeth, resulting in a seamless smile.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Choosing dental implants at Harris Dental offers numerous benefits, including:

  • Improved chewing ability and speech clarity
  • Enhanced facial aesthetics and smile confidence
  • Long-lasting and durable tooth replacement
  • Preservation of jawbone structure and facial integrity
  • Minimal impact on adjacent teeth

Ouch! Are Your Teeth Sensitive?

Are Your Teeth Sensitive In Phoenix?

For those of you in the Phoenix area who feel pain when you sip your morning coffee or who cringe each time you brush or floss, Harris Dental is here for you.

Dr. Harris Dental has been treating this common trouble since 1979.

The first line of defense against tooth sensitivity is proper oral hygiene. Incorrect brushing and over-brushing can result in receding gums, which leads to the exposure of microscopic tubules in the dentin. When these tubules are exposed, acidic, hot, cold, and sticky foods can then reach the nerve cells in the teeth causing discomfort.

Here in our Phoenix dentistry practice, our patient-oriented staff can determine if your brushing style is contributing to your tooth sensitivity problems and get you on your way to proper oral care habits.

Harris Dental usually recommends an over-the-counter desensitizing toothpaste that reduces tooth pain after several applications. Most Phoenix area drugstores carry it. However, some Phoenix patients may need in-office procedures such as fluoride gel treatments available at Harris Dental.

Don’t worry if you have sensitive teeth in Phoenix and want to have your teeth whitened. Here at Harris Dental, Dr. Dental can determine which professional tooth whitening or at-home whitening procedures will work for you.

Call our Phoenix cosmetic dental office today for speedy relief for your sensitive teeth.

Wear A Crown In Phoenix

Dental Crowns Restorative Dentistry

Wear A Crown In Phoenix

Dental crowns are among the restorative procedures we use most at Harris Dental in Phoenix. Crowns restore and protect a tooth that has been damaged, or had dental work. Each crown is custom-made to fit the tooth it is for.

This type of crown is sometimes called a “cap” because of the way they fit over the tooth. The purpose of the crown is to restore the tooth’s shape and size, and also its functionality. Once the crown is cemented into place it completely covers the visible portion of the tooth.

Some of the reasons we place a crown over a tooth:

  • It may have been badly chipped or broken
  • There may be a cavity too big to fill
  • A restoration after a root canal
  • Discoloration, or a similar cosmetic reason

When a crown is used as a restoration there is usually a temporary one before the final one. The temporary is used to protect the tooth while the permanent crown is made in a dental lab. A temporary crown is, of course, not as strong as a permanent crown, and patients need to be aware of that.

Once a dental crown is in place it should last for years to come, providing normal biting and chewing ability. Patients come to Harris Dental in Phoenix from Queen Creek, Scottsdale, and Mesa for crowns and other restorative dentistry, and much more. Call our office to schedule an appointment today!

What If My Dental Crown Cracks, Comes Loose, or Comes Off?

Dental Crowns

what to do if dental crown comes off Phoenix

Dental crowns are restorations that are cemented over a tooth that has been repaired, and we place a lot of them at Harris Dental in Phoenix.

While the cement is strong and reliable, they have been known to come off. It may have loosened or come off while brushing, or eating something sticky.  Here is what to do if your crown comes off.

There are three steps:

  1. First things first, find your crown if it has come off entirely. If you can’t find it, don’t worry. We can make a replacement.
  2. Next, give us a call. Even if we didn’t do the original we can reattach it.
  3. If your crown comes off after business hours, use denture adhesive to get it back in place temporarily. Do not use ordinary glue! You can find denture adhesive at a drugstore.

At Harris Dental in Phoenix we place a lot of dental crowns. People from Queen Creek, Scottsdale, and Mesa come to our office for our complete general dentistry. Schedule an appointment today!
